According to a recent report, Swiss Cybersecurity company Wisekey has opened its “Blockchain Center of Excellence”. Located in Geneva, the Center of Excellence will support and assist blockchain-related startups as well as conducting research and promoting new technology. Furthermore, the center aims to accelerate the growth of blockchain technology and its adoption in the various industries.
WISeKey offers numerous products, however, the firm main focus is providing “secure authentication and identification in both physical and virtual environments for the Internet of Things”, all using a cryptographic tool called Root of Trust.
Opening the center is part of an initiative through a partnership with the blockchain Research Institute (BRI). The goal is to open even more centers across the United States, China, Africa, South America, and Asia. Additionally, the aim of global blockchain centers is to work with businesses, schools, and other centers to share resources and ideas. The different centers will have their own areas of expertise, with the one in Geneva specializing on fintech, while the one in Argentina will focus on anti-counterfeiting platforms.
Over the month of January, the firm has announced the opening of additional centers. Just last week Wisekey announced the opening of a center in Malaysia through another partnership with the Malaysian tech company Censof. Censof is known as an investment management company. Censof board director Ameer bin Shaik Mydin believes that “The potential benefits of blockchain will help drive efficiencies for our clients.”
